What does it take to be a CloudOne Agent?

Duties
  • Our in home agents work exclusively with a web-based dynamic scripting engine. The system guides you through the call, and updates our agents in the moment on what to say next during the call.
  • Input data into a customized CRM system. Information gathered during the call assists our customers and dealers to provide workable solutions towards getting the car they want.
  • Place outbound follow up calls (no cold calling). Part of our program provides dealerships with feedback on how they are doing with their customers. Our dealership partners use this valuable information to better serve their customers.
  • Answer inbound phone calls from consumers. National advertising on TV and Radio trigger calls to our call center, as well as direct mail advertisements sent to their mailbox, or email to their inbox.
Skills & Equipment

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Being a part of a remote team environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Google apps.
  • 4-6 hours of "phone time" needed a day.
  • Customer Service experience a plus but not required.

Home Office Requirements

There are a few things you'll need for your home office:

A Quiet Space
A quiet place to work online is critical to prevent background noise while you're on calls. It's important to choose a distraction-free area where callers will be unable to hear background noise from kids, pets, traffic, TV, etc.

A Computer
In-Home Agents are required to own and maintain their own computer. CloudOne recommends Google Chromebox as a cost-effective option.

A Broadband Internet Connection
Because all our tools and calls are web-based, a reliable high speed internet connection is essential.

A High Quality USB Headset
You'll need a corded headset that's compatible with your computer. CloudOne recommends Plantronics brand headsets, but any comparable headset will do.

What are the calls like?
CloudOne provides call center support for the automotive industry. The most common calls we take are application verification and appointment setting for dealerships.

What equipment will I need for my home office?
A computer with internet connection, keyboard and a USB headset with microphone.

Does CloudOne charge contractor's fees?
No, CloudOne does not charge contractor's fees or any other fees for use of its software or resources.

Application Process and Requirements

How long does the application process take?
The application process, including the background and credit check, can take as long as a couple of weeks.

How long does it take to complete training?
The time it takes to complete certification usually takes a week. There are four separate certifications of calls that can be done but you can choose how much you want to be certified for. It is common for in-home agents to complete all stages within 6-8 weeks.

Is there an age requirement?
All contractors must be at least 18 years of age.

Do I have to be a legal resident of the United States?
Yes.

Background Check

What information do I need to provide for the background check?
All information provided must be verifiable. This includes but is not limited to: your Social Security card, driver's license, government issued picture ID, passport, work visa, or utility bill that includes your current address.

Why does CloudOne need to do a background check?
Because independent agents handle sensitive information from callers and serve as the "face" of the client's brand, this background check is an important factor for our clients, and is routine in the work-from-home industry.

How long does the background check take to process?
It can take up to two weeks, but typically under five days for the background check to be processed,.

Hours and Payment

How many hours can I work? Is there a minimum number of hours or calls required?
We do require a minimum of 20 hours of phone time a week but there is no limit to how much you work within the week.

How much will I be paid for my work?
Compensation is paid by the minute of what is called "phone time". From the moment you answer an inbound call, or when you hit send for an outbound call, the timer runs until the call is completed. There are 4 stages of call types we work with, and each stage gets a bit more complicated as you move up the scripts. The compensation is 25 cents per minute ($15.00 per hour*) and goes up 2 cents for stage 2, 4 cents for stage 3, and 2 cents for stage 4 until you get to 33 cents per minute ($19.80 per hour*). (All calls certified.) It is common for in home agents to complete all stages within 6-8 weeks, and be making 33 cents per minute going forward.

* There is typically a small gap between calls (3-10 seconds) where phone time is not accumulating.

How will I receive payment for my work? And how often?
Independent contractors are responsible for submitting invoices for their services using an easy-to-use online system. CloudOne pays submitted invoices by either check or direct deposit (it is the agent's choice), on or about the 5th and the 20th each month for invoiced services.

Contract Termination

If I'm unable to take calls for an extended period of time, will my contract be terminated?
If you are unable to meet your minimum phone time requirement, you will be considered inactive and your contract will be reevaluated.
